THIS JUST IN!!!

Kansas City – Merriam-Webster Dictionary has approved the word ‘Conradical’ to be included in the next dictionary to be published later this year. Kansas City Wizards central defender Jimmy Conrad coined the word. “I was having a conversation with some fans and I was asked to describe myself, before I knew it ‘Conradical’ reflexively popped out of my mouth, it stuck. I’m honored Merriam-Webster would be Conradical and include it,” mused Mr. Conrad.

Bernard Huckaby, senior editor at Merriam-Webster told JC.Com news, “The word 'Conradical' has been enjoying widespread use across the globe. Merriam-Webster was forced to put the word on the fast track for inclusion. Normally, it takes a word years to gain acceptance. For instance, the word ‘assload’ was in competition with Conradical but it wasn’t used enough."

“Conradical has universal significance,” explained Mr. Huckaby. “It can be used to describe an episode of ‘America’s Funniest Home Videos’ or used after watching a friend fall out of a tree.”

Kansas City teenager, Wojciech Wojciechowski (12) just moved to the area from Poland and had never heard of ‘Conradical.’ In broken English, Wojciech explained he was just starting to understand how to conjugate verbs. He went on to say he was excited to learn what the word meant and would use it soon.

Penn Valley Community College Linguist, Bill Lancaster, “Conradical is a word, or better stated, a concept which could change perceptions about a good many things. I don’t have any examples of this, but I am sure as I get in my car to drive home, two examples will pop into my head. Regretfully, I can’t think of anything now as I sit here. What I did notice about the word “Conradical” is the prefix con."

Con with (as in conforming or connecting)

against (as in contrasting or contrary)

It is pretty clear from the definitions above, this is a word with many possibilities. I think it would be a great word to use sarcastically. If a friend failed to return a library book, I could see myself saying, “That is Conradical.” The friend would think, "Hang on a minute, what is so Conradical about a library fine?” They would think about it a little longer and laugh; at least I think they would.
